I am not going to pretend to like 90s Pop. I don't hate it all just MOST of it.
Teenage pop sensation were being cranked out like crazy in the
90s. Most of them were one hit wonders. There were some pop
gems like Santana (I'm not sure if that can really even be considered
pop).
Backstreet Boys - Everybody
Say what you want about the Backstreet boys, but this is a pretty cool video.
Maria, Maria - Santana w/Wyclef
Smooth - Santana w/Rob Thomas
Alanis Morissette - You Learn
This is a song I didn't appreciate in the 90s because of my pop music bias. Looking
back, "You Learn" and other 90s pop songs from Alanis are like
a backdrop of my 90s experience. She is everything an artist
should be: free, wild, creative.
Hootie & the Blowfish - Time
Britney Spears - Baby One More Time
There is probably no other 90s pop song I despise more than this song. This song
is the template for every shitty 90s pop song.
Backstreet Boys - Larger than Life
I'm am definitely NOT a fan of BSB. They are the epitome of all the things I
have learned to hate about pop. They are talented, the chicks
dig them and they've got cool videos and I am not mad at that.
I just don't like cookie cut out artists like BSB. Created groups
developed to exploit a certain artist.
*Nsync - Tearin' Up My Heart
*Nsync makes me want to say horible things. 90s pop would not suck as bad as
it does without *Nsync. These guys can sing, they've got style,
they can dance... so why do I hate *Nsync? The same reason I
hate
artificial flavoring. They are not real.
Now, ironically, I
think that Justin Timberlake is a bad MF. The guys has incredible
soul.
Everything he does is amazing. He's like a white 70s/80s
Micheal Jackson. I keep waiting for him to make a shitty
album but he continues to blow my mind.
